Born in Brooklyn, New York, David J. Lawrence is a recipient of the prestigious “Creative Arts Award” of New York. He trained at the High School of Art & Design, and the prestigious Art Students League of New York. He also attended Long Island University, studying professional art and illustration.
David has had a life long ambition to be a professional artist. He has achieved this goal in such a manner that has launched a national and international market for his originals and reproductions.
David works in many mediums such as oils, acrylics, airbrush, and composition leafing that bring together a collage of techniques and integrating them into styles, such as: Abstract, Cubism, Figurative and Futurism. His recent works combines the sciences of Astronomy, Numerology, Geometry, and Physics with the imagery, symbols, textures, and patterns of Indigenous cultures in his own style “Pyramidism”.
David has been one of the 100 internationally acclaimed artists selected to be part of a project entitled “The Art of Woodstock” in Rome, N.Y. The project included leading pop artist Andy Warhol, Graham Nash, Robert Indiana, Ron English, and Christo. This exhibit has toured internationally and the works will be auctioned to benefit the Water Keeper Alliance, a non-profit environmental organization headed by Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
David’s works have been shown at the Nassau County Museum of Fine Arts, African American Museum of Art, Franklin Institute Museum, and University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology.
